Two WKD Cases Featured in April Louisiana Jury Verdict Reporter!

WKD is getting high-profile results for its clients! Two of WKD’s recent cases are featured in the April issue of the Louisiana Jury Verdict Reporter.

On the front page, Lyons v. LSU Health Services, a medical malpractice case with WKD as the defense, is covered. The five-day jury trial ultimately resulted in a tendered judgment for Lyons in the sum of $63,000, representing the raw verdict less comparative fault. The plaintiff’s settlement demand never came below $1.9 million. We congratulate WKD managing partner Peter Wanek and WKD attorney Elicia Ford on the favorable results for their client. Read details about this WKD case.

Jackson v. State Farm, an insurance contract/bad faith case with WKD’s Peter Wanek as the defense, is covered on page 7 of the same issue. The plaintiffs alleged their insurer lowballed and delayed payment of their claim after their home was struck by two hurricanes within two months. The four-day case was heard by a federal jury and a defense verdict was secured. This was the first jury verdict in favor of a homeowner insurer in Louisiana stemming from Hurricanes Laura and Delta in 2020. Read more about the case and judgment.

We look forward to more wins for clients, inside and outside the courtroom!
