Ray Williams v. JELD-WEN, Inc.

US District Court for the Western District of Louisiana (Hon. Judge Dee Drell presiding), July 31-August 2, 2023, Lindsay Faulkner and Peter Wanek secured a defense judgment after a jury trial in an employment discrimination case. The plaintiff claimed he was discriminated against by the defendant on the basis of race and age in his failure to be promoted. Further, the plaintiff made claims of retaliation and harassment. He claimed damages in excess of $300,000, including economic damages, compensatory damages, punitive damages, and attorney’s fees. After a three-day jury trial, the federal judge granted a judgment as a matter of law dismissing all age discrimination claims, retaliation claims, harassment claims, and a majority of the race discrimination claims. The remaining claims were eventually dismissed, resulting in a defense judgment for the defendant.
