Raymond and Julie Steiner, Individually and on Behalf of their Minor Son, Alexander Steiner v. State of Louisiana/LSU Health Sciences Center

In a medical malpractice case in May 2023, Peter Wanek represented the State of Louisiana and LSU Health Sciences Center in a six-day jury trial in Civil District Court in New Orleans. The plaintiffs alleged that their 12-year-old son was the victim of a wrongful death and lost a chance of survival following treatment he received by the defendant-physician, a pediatric neurologist. The plaintiffs requested over $2.6 million from the jury and claimed medical billing of more than $139,000. The jury returned a defense verdict finding that the defendant did not breach any standards of care. This victory was the third successful defense of a medical malpractice case by Peter since August 2022.
